In-kind assistance
Transfer of goods, equipment, products, premises — for NGOs, people in difficult situations, animal shelters. Often, this is exactly what is needed as targeted assistance, not money.
«To share what you have, selflessly, without expecting anything in return, to love people despite their flaws, to see the good in them — this is what one should cultivate in oneself.»
What you gain and what changes
- In-kind assistance often meets real needs more precisely than money: you buy exactly what is needed.
- This is a way to give a «second life» to working equipment, furniture, clothes.
- For businesses, transferring unused property to NGOs is a way to reduce storage costs and receive a tax benefit.
Step-by-step plan
- 1
Ask what is needed
Don't bring things «just in case» — NGO warehouses are overflowing. Each fund publishes an up-to-date list of needs on its website, specifying sizes, models, and deadlines.
What to check- Studied the fund's needs list
- Contacted the coordinator
- Agreed on delivery date and address
Documents- List of needs (from the fund's website)
- 2
Prepare items
Clothes — washed and in good condition. Equipment — working, with chargers and instructions. Products — with a shelf life of at least 1 month. Broken items are not help, but a problem.
What to check- Items are clean and intact
- Equipment checked and working
- Products with a long shelf life
Documents- Inventory of transferred property
- 3
Formalize the transfer
For small items — a simple act. For large property (from 100,000 ₽) — a donation agreement under Art. 582 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, specifying the targeted use. This grants the right to a tax deduction.
What to check- Acceptance certificate signed
- Donation agreement (for large items)
- Confirmation received from NGO
Documents- Property acceptance certificate
- Donation agreement
- NGO certificate for the Federal Tax Service

Legal basis
- Civil Code of the Russian FederationArt. 582 — donation
A gift with a specified purpose of use. The NGO is obliged to use the property strictly for its intended purpose.
- Tax Code of the Russian FederationArt. 219 — social deduction
A 13% deduction also applies to property donations (at market value).
- Federal Law-89On Production and Consumption Waste
It is forbidden to transfer non-working equipment and expired products as donations — this is disposal.
Beware of scammers
- Do not hand over original documents for equipment without a receipt.
- Lease premises only under an agreement with an NGO that has a charter and registration.
- Do not use «intermediaries» — they often resell donated items.

VkusVill, Perekrestok, Lenta stores transfer products with expiring dates to food banks — food reaches those in need instead of the trash bin.
Dozens of IT companies annually transfer working but outdated laptops and computers to schools and orphanages. This gives children access to technology they otherwise wouldn't have.
