«A crowd project is a test of an idea's strength.»

F. Murachkovsky, CEO and co-founder of the crowdfunding platform Planeta.ru
Why this matters

What you gain and what changes

  • Crowdfunding turns everyone into a potential donor — the entry threshold is from 100 rubles.
  • Platforms undertake project verification and public reporting — this reduces the risks of fraud.
  • Besides money, you support the author by your very action — this is public solidarity.
Roadmap

Step-by-step plan

  1. 1

Choose a platform for your goal

For social and NGO projects — SberVmeste, Planeta.Ru (charity section). For creative projects — Boomstarter, Planeta. For medical fundraisers — only through certified funds.

    What to check
    • Platform has a public offer
    • Commissions are specified
    • Reports on past fundraisers are available
    Documents
    • Platform terms of use
  2. 2

    Check a specific project

Who is the author? Are there supporting documents (medical reports for treatment fundraising, business plan for a social enterprise)? What reports are promised? How much has already been raised and how much is left?

    What to check
    • Author confirmed (NGO or verified individual)
    • Goal and amount justified by documents
    • Reporting format announced
    Documents
    • Screenshot of project page
    • Author's documents (if published)
  3. 3

    Make a donation

The minimum amount is usually 100 ₽. Platforms support bank cards, SBP, cashless payments. The payment receipt is saved in your personal account.

    What to check
    • Payment processed
    • Receipt saved
    • Confirmation received from author
    Documents
    • Payment receipt from personal account
  4. 4

    Monitor the result

After the fundraiser ends, the author is obliged to publish a report — what was bought, what was built, what photos. If there is no report — write to platform support, you have the right to demand it.

    What to check
    • Notification of fundraiser completion received
    • Author's report published
    • Real result visible
    Documents
    • Author's report (PDF / project page)

Legal basis

  • Federal Law-259 of 02.08.2019
On Attracting Investments Using Investment Platforms

Regulates investment crowdfunding. For donation-based — only partially applicable.

  • Civil Code of the Russian Federation
    Art. 582 — donation

The platform acts as an agent — money is legally transferred directly from you to the recipient.

  • Tax Code of the Russian Federation
    Art. 219 — deduction

If the recipient is a registered NGO, your donation grants the right to a 13% deduction. There is no deduction for individual authors.

  • Federal Law-152
    On Personal Data

The platform is obliged to process your data only for payment and reporting purposes; selling data is prohibited.

Beware of scammers

  • Do not confuse NGO fundraising on certified platforms with «personal fundraising on social networks».
  • Verify the project author: TIN, history, publications.
  • Beware of «medical fundraisers» without medical reports and clinic bills.
